Levan Davitashvili: “The production process runs smoothly; our population will not face problems with supply of bread ”

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili together with the First Deputy Minister Giorgi Khanishvili got familiar with the production capacities of the large bakery companies - “Bread” (Ipkli Digomi) and LLC “Ipkli”.

“In the current, difficult circumstances, one of the crucial issues for the population is to ensure smooth running of the baking industry and maintain prices of bread. In this regard, we carry out continuous monitoring. We also hold regular meetings with the manufacturers, importers of flour and other products to avoid problems in the production. At present supplies are more than enough, the production process is running smoothly. The population will have no problems with the bread supply” Levan Davitashvili said.

For continuous delivery of the products, the bakeries operate 24 hours a day. Manufactured products are sold throughout Georgia.

Bread producers operate 24 hours a day for continuous production. Manufactured products are sold throughout Georgia. ‘’Puri’’ company produces 120,000 loaves of bread (14 types) a day. It employs about 300 people. ‘’Ipkli’’ company produces 180,000 loaves per day (37 types). The company employs about 450 people
 
Both companies are equipped with European-made equipment. In production, all recommendations of the National Center for Disease Control and National Food Agency, including sanitary and hygienic standards are followed. Under the state of emergency, the companies ensure transportation for employees.


It is worth mentioning, that, under the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, which is led by the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture was assigned to oversee the management, logistics and transportation of food supplies.
