Spring agricultural works are underway in all municipalities of Imereti region

In line with the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus, spring farming activities are taken in different  regions of Georgia in compliance with the safety standards. Farmers are actively engaged in land cultivation, intensive farming activities.


The State Representative in Imereti region, Zviad Shalamberidze together with the Director of the "Imereti Agrozone" LLC of the  Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Archil Bukia got familiar with the ongoing activities.
 
The company ‘’ Mtsvane Mdelo ‘’ funded under the state programs "Produce in Georgia" and "Plant the Future", owns 27 hectares of agricultural land area and has rented 8 hectares of additional land in the village Gumbra, Tskaltubo municipality, whereby, the company planted blueberry crop on 15 hectares and different types of herbs on 20 hectares. Last year, the company ‘’Mtsvane Mdelo ‘’ exported and re-exported about 55,000 kg of herbs to Europe.

At present, the company carries out spring farming activities, considers and follows all safety standards and recommendations against the spread of the new coronavirus. 

 Spring works are carried out in Sachkhere Municipality as well. Despite the current situation in the country, the cultivation of agricultural land is in the active phase. It should be noted, that in 2020, more agricultural land plots will be cultivated in Sachkhere municipality, in comparison with the previous year. Autumn wheat has already been sown and irrigation system is rehabilitated, which will further increase the productivity.
