" The price of bread should not rise, there are no objective circumstances or preconditions in this regard"- stated Levan Davitashvili

"Although, the price of wheat has been slightly increased in the Black Sea region, but we state, that this is a temporary occurrence. We have launched a compensation program to deal with the aforementioned challenges, insuring and subsidizing prices of the most essential food products in the country.  We make special proposal to importers and flour producers, offering them to accept a deal-‘’trade regime’’, under which, they receive a compensation, if they maintain the same price of flour as of March 10, before creating preconditions for price increases.

We met with the representatives of the bread industry, member companies of the wheat association to discuss above mentioned issues. We declare, that under the state of emergency, our residents shouldn’t face food security related problem, concerning the most essential, everyday food products, moreover, the price of bread should not rise, if there are no objective circumstances or preconditions in this regard.
.
Hereby, it’s important to mention the sense of solidarity expressed by representatives of business sector. We keep in close contact and they help us in different ways, regarding, direct financial assistance or purchase of various essential goods and provision of services necessary in this process, including essential goods or medical inventory. It should be noted, that business sector is engaged in all of the aforementioned processes and I would like to express my gratitude to them.

At the same time, we will be very strict about the decisions of the business sector, especially, if their decisions will make unfavorable living conditions for our residents.

I would like to note, that we are conducting continuous observation and monitoring of  ongoing processes and we categorically exclude the increase in the price of bread during the state of emergency ”said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili.
