Levan Davitashvili: "The special platform is created where farmers have an opportunity to deliver their perishable food products to wholesale merchants

"We understand, that our residents face difficulties in carrying out their economic activities, especially farmers, which are mostly distressed in the current circumstances, as long as they should timely deliver their perishable food products to the market. Although, certain decisions made by the Interagency Coordination Council and Georgian government are necessary to protect the health of our residents in the current epidemic situation. I would like to apologize to each citizen for inconveniences and once again I would urge them to take into account all necessary recommendations and requirements set by the Coordination Council under the state of emergency.

It is important to ensure uninterrupted food supply chains, provision of food security to population. All links should work in close coordination with each other to better  manage these processes.

The working group was set at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture which takes coordination activities. Moreover under the current circumstances, when a strict quarantine regime is imposed in the country, we make best efforts to establish a communication between producers and buyers. A special platform has been created for this purpose, the wholesale trading network "Jibe", where farmers have an opportunity to deliver their perishable food products to wholesale merchants.

An additional, more organized trading platform will be created in some districts of Tbilisi to ensure trading is continued uninterrupted  in compliance with the sanitary and hygienic rules and the risk of spreading the disease is reduced "- said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili.
