"Under the new program launched by Georgian government, we are creating an environment, where businesses will be able to provide population with the essential food products, without harming their own interests." Stated Levan Davitashvili:

" Georgian government made a decision to provide a compensation for the most consumed, essential  food products in the country. Our Ministry together with the relevant structures of the Ministry of Finance are conducting a thorough monitoring of prices. We will have a strict and demanding attitude towards the business sector.

Considering state of emergency, we have to take urgent activities and we have the right to do that. I have a continuous communication with all links, regarding representatives of business sector and I know their attitudes. In most cases, we see a sense of solidarity from their side. Unity is of utmost importance in the current circumstances. 

I would like to note, that Georgian government has already imposed sanctions – penalties comprising of big fines, which will be imposed on participant companies, if they are violating rules, although, I should admit, that participation in this program is an extremely important advantage for our business companies. We are creating an environment, where businesses will be able to provide population with the essential food products without harming their own interests."

I urge companies to get engaged in this program. The companies need time to increase their awareness on the terms and conditions of the program, also they should go through all procedures. According to the latest data, more than 16 companies are signing an agreement with the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency to receive a compensation determined under the government resolution.

At the same time, the program specifies obligations for companies , so that companies should not increase the prices of food products.

This week, we are expecting importers of oil, pasta, flour to get engaged in the program, if there were some fluctuations in prices in previous days, due to which people felt even more stressed, we will address them, that our hotline provides a continuous information, all above mentioned issues will be regulated soon "- said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili.
