All types of food products, as well as primary essentials are stoked up

From April 12 to June 30, the export of a number of  food products is banned from the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan) however, this fact will not cause a shortage of food products in Georgia’s markets.

It is noteworthy, that, the Interagency Coordination Council is established and led by the Prime Minister of Georgia to prevent the possible spread of the novel coronavirus, under which, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture takes responsibility for overseeing the management, logistics and transportation of food supplies.

The Ministry conducts a continuous monitoring on existing food stocks and primary essentials in the country, also, it undertakes a control on prices of food and how an uninterrupted flow of food products is ensured in the trading networks. Moreover, the Ministry is working to diversify markets.
At present, Georgia is importing food and primary essentials from a number of countries. Nevertheless, trade negotiations are underway to find alternative markets and increase the import in other countries as well.
