Levan Davitashvili: "Our farmers are heroes, who are making brave deeds in this difficult situation to ensure food security in our country "

"Farmers are facing some discomfort as a result of current restrictions. We make decisions due to current circumstances, therefore, we face a need of a certain amount of compromise as well. Moreover, we expect a sense of solidarity from our farmers.

Our farmers are heroes, who are making brave deeds in this difficult situation to ensure food security in our country. We should make best efforts and support our farmers. There will be some difficulties and inconveniences as a result of ongoing restrictions, although we think, that otherwise, it is really inconceivable. We should make endeavors to ensure the health and safety of our population.

From April 27, the mobility will be gradually increased in the country, these issues will be discussed in detail by Prime Minister of Georgia. Consequently, there will be more vehicles and means of transport and the problems related to the sales will be gradually solved. The issue regarding sales channels is also crucial. We have a plan according to which, agrarian markets will be able to operate if they are complied with the relevant standard.

We are making best efforts to help big stock buyers and sellers to communicate in an organized manner. All these measures will alleviate the situation. Gradually, farmers will have less pressure. However, we must understand, that restrictions were imposed due to the inevitable necessity ”said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili
