Levan Davitashvili: " Farmers to sell their products is crucial"

"Farmers should sell their products, get income and not being affected due to the current circumstances. As for prices, competitive environment should be created, beyond which our responsibility cannot be extended. Today, the demand for high prices means that the state should subsidize all types of Georgian products, which is unthinkable; Considering our country's budget, or taxes paid by taxpayers, we cannot afford to subsidize all products. The tourism rate hit record highs in May in previous years. We expected to have even more tourists this year.

New, fresh agricultural products, fruits and vegetables are entering in May in Georgia, which are crucial, especially when agricultural products are produced in our country.

Considering an increased demand, the increase in price is logical to be expected, although, today the consumption as well as demand is weak, compared to previous years. Today, the demand is not the same as it was in 2019" said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili.
