Levan Davitashvili: " Under the frame of the anti-crisis plan, additional components were added to the state programs to support farmers"
"We have been implementing agricultural support programs during this difficult period, thereby, as part of the anti-crisis plan, we have added additional components to state programs to help farmers. Firstly, we should mention, that all farmers using irrigation and drainage services were provided with free irrigation services, otherwise they would pay 70 GEL per hectare. This is a significant benefit. Secondly, farmers got important opportunities to grow annual crops : vegetables and cereals, hereby, farmers are given an opportunity for asset turnover, namely, to utilize their assets to produce revenue.

Under the frame of the Agro-Credit project, a new component has emerged, which provides full co-financing for loans ranging from 5 to 100 000 GEL at bank interest rate. Actually, farmers are able to grow annual crops for free. It is very important, that Georgian government provides guarantee -50% , that serves as collateral to help farmers to communicate with the financial institutions and easily take loans.

It is important, that within the frame of the anti-crisis plan, we have changed interest rates on existing loans, in specific cases, we aim to make finances more accessible to farmers, farmers should use more credit resources and expand the range of their activities "- said Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili.
