Projects implemented by the Swedish Government

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili met with the Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Sweden in Georgia, Molly Lien.
The sides discussed bilateral relations between Sweden and Georgia, ongoing changes in the Ministry and drew their attention to the possibility of strengthening capacities of the waste management agency. They also discussed ongoing projects supported by the Swedish Government - "Support for the implementation of  the integrated waste management system and capacity building in Georgia" and "clean Georgia".
The project "Clean Georgia" aims to improve the environment and reduce the impact on climate change in Georgia by means of strengthening waste management system and increasing environmental responsibility in Georgian population.
The project "Supporting Integrated Waste Management System and Capacity Building in Georgia" includes issues related to increase awareness of integrated waste management, to get acqainted with the best practices in the product liability and manufacturer's liability, share experience in hazardous waste management and conduct inventory in contaminated, polluted areas. 
Under the project, the assistance will be provided to develop technical safety methodology for municipal waste management in collection, transportation, safe handling and disposal of waste.
