European Experience for Implementation of Forestry Policy


The project ‘’European Experience for Implementation of Environmental and Forestry Policy’’ was presented at the hotel "Radisson Blue Iveria". The meeting was attended by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and Director of Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN), Nana Janashia.
The meeting was organized by CENN and aimed at introduction of political, institutional and financial tools of sustainable forest governance and discussion of opportunities for implementation of a united, balanced national policy, taking into account the social-economic and environmental priorities of the country.
At the meeting, the sides discussed the action plan for tourism and recreation management in the forests providing for development of synchronization of forest governance systems with national priorities and development of institutional and financial and economic tools intended for making use of economic potential.
As concerns the release of social and energy pressure on forests, the document of a State Program on Provision of Population with Heating Resources updated by governmental agencies was discussed at the seminar. The project was implemented within the framework of "Forest Sustainable Management in Georgia" with the financial support of Austrian Cooperation for Development (ADC).
The meeting was attended by Alvaro Ortega Aparicio, Head of the Environment Protection and Agriculture Division of the EU Delegation, Austrian Ambassador to Georgia Arad Benko, representatives of various Ministries, Environmental NGOs and International Organizations.
