“Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili has made an important contribution to the economic development of our country . This was an unprecedented assistance -200 million GEL was allocated and spent for agricultural development " stated Levan Davitashvili:

"Economic activities presented by the Ministry of Economy are universal and covers  all sectors of the economy, including agriculture, namely, agricultural processing sector. This is an important part in  stimulating  the floundering economy, including crisis recovery, economic revitalization. However, despite its specificity, agriculture is a part of economic activity.

Farming activities can pose significant risks, which are largely related to natural phenomena, such as climate change. Therefore, state agricultural policy, as well as assistance package for farmers are different and complex, comprising of credit instruments, grant assistance, direct assistance such as providing agro-diesel for farmers, which is one of the most important tools to increase production. The farmers support also includes important components, such as technical assistance, increase of knowledge and skills etc.

When we set focus on the agricultural sector, we should underline the agricultural policy implemented by our government. In 2013, agriculture was announced as one of the top  priority sectors in the country. Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili has made an important contribution to Georgia’s economy. He spent about 200 million GEL for agricultural development, which became a turning point in agriculture, our population has returned to rural areas and started taking farming activities. Since then, our policy has been consistent and focused on the development of private farms. For the first time in the history of the Georgian Dream party, a comprehensive package of assistance was provided to the private sector engaged in agriculture, including support for value chain, that we have been implementing consistently over the years.  As a result, we exported an unprecedentedly high $ 1 billion agro-food product in the previous year.

We also reduced the trade deficit of agro-food products; We had a negative balance, that amounted to about $ 900 million in 2012-2013, but we regained this balance to about $ 300 million, when tourist flow started increasing in Georgia over the past several years ”said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili.
