"We are introducing a new category – a cluster of a farmer, which hasn’t been brought into the national legislation before ‘’ stated Levan Davitashvili

"We are introducing a new category –a cluster of a farmer, which is a new practice and hasn’t been brought into the national legislation before. A few years ago, we started implementation of the Farmers Register System, whereby, the farmer was defined as a person, who raises a variety of food crops to sell and make an income, therefore, this category includes farming as a profession, which is an important element. Farmers are people who live and carry our agricultural activities in the rural areas. They are not social security recipients, who receive social assistance. Quite a large part of our population are social assistance recipients, they will receive social assistance from government for a couple of years, as far as, our government has a high sense of social responsibility. Moreover, we started to establish a professional category. These are people, who have registered their agricultural land plots and communicate with the state agencies, they are becoming a part of farmers register, which is a precondition to receive certain benefits. There is not a country, where direct agricultural subsidies are not being implemented. It’s worth mentioning, that special benefits are provided for landowners in all countries of the EU, namely, concessions per 1 ha, especially, if the farmer meets the requirements. These requirements in the EU include the farmers' registration system, which is already introduced in our country, including an electronic program, which is included in the agreement with the EU and widely introduced in the European countries.

Ultimately, this is the path we are taking to achieve the long-term success. We are making efforts to increase the prosperity of our village, and meanwhile, agricultural sector will become more successful in our country. We should take necessary, important, timely and consistent steps forward in this situation "- said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili.
