Agara Sugar Factory is the first, which was launched under the Georgian government local production promotion program. The factory employs 500 locals and has a capacity to produce up to 500 tons of sugar per day. The enterprise  will enable  the large number of local customers to buy local products.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava together with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili and State Representative of Shida Kartli region, Giorgi Khojevanishvili visited the new factory.

" We  promote Georgian production on the local market and make endeavors  to enable customers to buy locally produced products.  It is important, that preparatory works that started a month ago are completed successfully and Agara sugar factory has resumed work. Today, the factory operates at full capacity and produces up to 500 tons of sugar per day, which is to take a step forward in terms of import substitution. The employment of local residents is of utmost importance. The enterprise created under the state support programs will start its operations successfully. At present, food like jams,  jellies and other products will be actively produced at the factory. It is important to have local, quality raw materials at a competitive price, which is closely linked with each other. We believe, that Agara sugar will be successful in our market "Levan Davitashvili said.
