Works are underway to sell peaches in an organized manner
The officials of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture held a meeting with the exporters and heads of peach processing enterprises in Gurjaani Municipality to discuss issues of harvesting , storing and selling of peach crop in an organized manner .
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili along with the State Representative in Kakheti region, Irakli Kadagishvili visited the distribution center in the village Chumlaki, Gurjaani Municipality, which was opened to ensure the safe and uninterrupted export of peaches amid the novel corona virus pandemic.
The group comprised of the representatives of the Phytosanitary, Environmental and Information Services of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture will work at the distribution point. The representatives of the Ministry will help foreign national truck drivers to take all necessary documents for selling of products under the "Single Window" principle. The movement of vehicles will be strictly controlled.
"This year, we are expecting an abundant harvest of peaches, which will reach about 35,000 tons. 20 refrigerators will operate during the season. Due to the novel corona virus pandemic, we have selected a location in the village Chumlaki, Gurjaani Municipality, whereby trucks will be loaded with export products.
Considering the epidemiological situation, the farmers, producers and exporters to follow the safety rules is crucial to avoid and prevent the spread of the virus. The government will make endeavors to help farmers not to face problems in selling their products ”said Solomon Pavliashvili.
The State Representative in Kakheti Region, Irakli Kadagishvili noted, that the will work in the current epidemiological situation to deal with the harvesting and storing of peach crop related issues in Gurjaani Municipality.
The Head of the National Food Agency Zurab Chekurashvili along with the representatives of the relevant agencies of the Ministry attended the working meeting.
