" Business Institute of Georgia actively supports the development of Georgian dairy / milk sector through implementing various important projects" stated Levan Davitashvili

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the representatives of the Business Institute of Georgia.

‘’The new corona virus pandemic brought forward challenges in many branches of the agricultural sector, including dairy farming, namely, the demand for dairy products was significantly reduced. Although, it is important to turn challenges into a new opportunity and increase the production of products that can be stored for a long time, such as aged cheese. We approve, that Business Institute is actively supporting  the development of  Georgia’s dairy sector through implementing various projects, aiming to help local dairy farmers in strengthening their capabilities ”said Levan Davitashvili.


The Director of Georgia’s Business Institute, Magda Gzirishvili informed the Minister on the results of the current project "Georgian Milk Mark".

Magda Gzirishvili set her focus on a new project and outlined the importance of creation of the Georgian Milk Producers Federation. 

Within the project, the memorandum of cooperation will be signed with the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency. Through extension services, the interested parties will be informed about the novelties taken place in the dairy industry.

" Georgian Milk Producers Federation will embrace producers working in the dairy sector and all interested parties engaged in the diary field. Information materials will be prepared, which will include novelties, as well as legislative changes in the diary field. I believe, that our new project will be a good example of cooperation between the public, private and non-profit sectors ”said Magda Gzirishvili.

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili, the Head of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency Ilia Tamarashvili and the representatives of the relevant services of the Ministry attended the meeting.
