Digital marketing will be an important tool for driving more sales of Georgian wine

At the meeting with the representatives of small wine cellars, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani brought forward problems caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic in the wine industry and highlighted ways to overcome existing challenges.


The Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, as well as representatives of the Marketing Department of the Agency attended the meeting.


The coronavirus pandemic had a negative impact on Georgia's economy, like many other countries economic system around the world. Moreover, pandemic had a brutal impact on small wineries, affecting exports and declining number of tourists in the country. Accordingly, representatives of small wine cellars discussed the needs for finding alternative ways of promoting wine currently in the international markets.


The Deputy Minister provided participants with the new approaches, which will help small wineries to popularize and sell their products. Khatia Tsilosani noted, that National Wine Agency will support small wineries to use new online platforms in the strategic markets, besides, the Agency will use wine tasting, as a marketing tool, and will send wine samples to promote sale of Georgian wine produced by small winemakers in the international markets.


" Georgian wine industry faces great challenges, however, at this stage, the export rate of Georgian wine is not dramatically reduced. The sales trend is quite positive and promising in some markets. It is important to intensify work on the new models of digital marketing and maximize the use of these resources "- said Khatia Tsilosani.


The Deputy Minister also spoke about the ongoing programs developed under the Agricultural Anti-Crisis Plan, noting, that farmers, including owners of small wine cellars receive significant support in a number of areas, including tax breaks, access to preferential financial credit resources and technical assistance projects.
