"Direct subsidy will be provided for Rkatsiteli grapes" stated Levan Davitashvili

The government will not leave the residents during the harvest, as in previous years was declared   by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili at the Parliament.

Levan Davitashvili is attending the parliament session, where, Prime Minister of Georgia,  Giorgi Gakharia presents the 2019-2020 report on the activities implemented by Georgian  government.

"I believe, that Georgian Dream government has made a huge contribution to the development of viticulture and winemaking field in the country. The viticulture and winemaking field has moved forward and reached the different level of development. Under the governance of the Georgian Dream party, the farmer doesn’t face any problems in the storage of harvest.

The state has a high social responsibility. This year, Georgian government considers to subsidize the grape harvest of about 40 million GEL.

The direct subsidy will be provided for Rkatsiteli grapes, as farmers receive a bumper  crop of Rkatsiteli grapes, however, main problems are related to the delivery of grapes to the companies. Nearly 80% of export, more than 70%  are red wines produced from red grape variety, only 20-25% are white wines.

Next week, the government will adopt a resolution to promote the grape harvest. Terms will be determined and agreed with the farmers and owners of the companies. This is the maximum, that might be done for residents under the existing financial resources. I would like to note, that, as in previous years, not a single kilogram of grapes will be left behind. The state-owned enterprise will use all resources for purchasing and storing of grapes, that won’t be purchased by the private sector ” said the Minister.
