Trainings based on the best American practice, targeted at the development of protected areas have been successfully completed


30 participants were awarded certificates upon successful completion of training course "Guidelines for Integrated Governance and Management of Protected Areas".
 
The Representative of the US Department of the Interior's International Technical Assistance Program Paata Shanshiashvili in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) conducted retraining course for the employees of the National Agency of Protected Areas, Environmental Information and Education Center, the Department of Biodiversity and Forestry of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia.
 
The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze and Khatia Tsilosani, USAID Mission Director, Peter Wiebler and the Representative of the US Department of the Interior's International Technical Assistance Program Paata Shanshiashvili
handed out certificates to the participants.

 The event was held in Lagodekhi Municipality, which was established as the first protected area in the Caucasus.
 
"The US government actively cooperates with the Georgian government and private sector to strengthen protected areas and develop ecotourism in the country. The grant project aims to support protected areas and share the best international practices to the employees, which will further help to protect the  biodiversity and develop  ecotourism in the country”said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Yuri Nozadze.

"The purpose of our partnership is to share our best practices and help Georgia in developing
national parks. Georgia’s National parks are a national treasure, as well as a potential source for creating more jobs and increasing income of Georgian residents ”said the USAID Mission Director, Peter Wiebler.
