The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili visited Bolnisi Municipality
The Deputy Minister together with the Mayor of Bolnisi Municipality, Davit Sherazadishvili got familiar with the selling of products at the potato collection point in the village of Nakhiduri. This year, the harvest of early potatoes is about 15,000 tons, out of which 3,000 tons are exported. Solomon Pavliashvili inspected the refrigerator farms created with the state financial support program in the villages Savaneti and Khatisofeli, Bolnisi Municipality.
The Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla together with the Deputy Minister and Mayor of Bolnisi also attended the meeting with local winemakers in Bolnisi Municipality. At the meeting, the government officials brought forward projects and future plans for the development of winemaking in the municipality, whereby the authorities also inspected a modern vineyard and a family cellar.
" Farmers should not face the problem in selling of their products. We are making endeavors to provide a good logistical service. It should be noted, that the region has a great potential for the development of viticulture. There are unique varieties of grapes in Bolnisi municipality. We welcome the initiative of the private sector, under which the“Bolnisi” was registered as the appellation of origin of Georgian wine, which will help to increase the competitiveness of Bolnisi wine, both domestically and in export markets "- said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
Solomon Pavliashvili met with the farmers producing grain crops in the village of Disveli and inspected organic vineyard and perennial crop gardens planted under the project "Plant the Future".
The Deputy Director of Georgian Melioration, Gennady Kerdzevadze and Deputy Director of Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, Giorgi Jibladze accompanied the Deputy Minister in Bolnisi Municipality.
