"Purchasing timber resources directly at a fixed price is becoming feasible'' stated Levan Davitashvili
"It is possible to buy timber resources directly at a fixed price" told the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture to the reporters today, at the end of the Georgian Government session.
"The rules on the forest use, as well as possibility to purchase the firewood directly is an important issue concerning our population. We have established the log sort yards, which is a step forward taken towards the restoration of sustainable forestry.
The National Forest Agency will allocate places in all municipalities of Georgia, where residents and representatives of business sector will be able to purchase the timber resources at a specific fixed price directly, this includes both high-quality, first-class timber resources and firewood, which until now could be purchased only through an auction.
The operators engaged in the forestry activities will be able to use the forest biomass to produce briquettes and alternative bio fuels, which will enable to improve the waste management system in the country. ” - Levan Davitashvili stated.
