The hunting season for migratory game birds will be launched on the fourth Saturday in August ( August 22 ) 2020

The hunting season will be available on the fourth Saturday, August 22. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has taken into account recommendations of scientific-expert circles and opinions expressed by the majority of hunters while making a decision. The launch of the hunting season at this time aims to protect and reproduce the migratory birds. Following the recommendation of Ilia State University and the National Agency for Wildlife changes have been made for the current season in the following areas:
 
The hunting was banned on the territory of nursery farms, which are under the management / use of the National Wildlife Agency to avoid the negative impact and stress on farm animals. 
The  population of the species Streptopelia turtur was declined , and the number of finding these species daily  is significantly reduced from 10 to 5.
For the hunting season 2020-2021, the hunting terms for forest chicken (Scolopax rusticola) has been changed from October 1 (instead of October 15) to March 1, as in recent years, in eastern Georgia, especially in the mountainous regions, this species appear before October 15. The hunting deadline for forest chickens has remained unchanged March 1, as the hunting of forest chickens in the regions of western Georgia is mainly carried out in February. However, it should be noted, that significant decrease in the number of forest chickens has not been observed.
 
Those wishing to hunt migratory game birds must have a receipt (original) confirming the payment of the fee for hunting of migratory game birds and a document certifying the right for keeping and carrying a hunting rifle issued by the relevant body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
