“Agricultural activities have been increased in the country. The opportunity is emerged to employ more people and get more income, which will have a positive impact on the well-being of our rural population." stated Levan Davitashvili

At the end of the meeting of the Coordination Council, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili made a comment  on the seasonal employment in the field of agriculture.  As noted by the Minister, the seasonal employment of Georgian citizens in the neighboring countries might be replaced by the jobs offered on the spot.

"The labour redistribution is performed in different parts of the country in an organized manner. New employment opportunities have been emerged in the agricultural sector, the demand for labor is significantly increased. The sector generates new jobs, especially in Kakheti region, where seasonal employment opportunities are available. Firstly, we should mention peaches, about 2000 people from different parts of Georgia are involved and employed in the harvesting and storing of peaches, including other fruit crop cultures as well. We together with the local government of Adjara region and municipalities of Kakheti have organized and managed to mobilize the labor force in Kakheti, although this is only a one part. Employment prospects are emerging in many parts of our country.

We will have a very intensive crop harvesting, handling and storage activities throughout the entire season in Kakheti region, which will be related to the grape harvest, afterwards, there will be a need for labor force in Shida Kartli region and subsequently, the hazelnut harvest-handling and storage season will start. The seasonal employment was quite popular among our population in our neighboring countries, although it might be replaced by the jobs offered in Georgia to a great extent.

This fact shows that the latest trends in agriculture are quite positive in recent years, agricultural activities are increased in all directions, in fact, in all regions, which allows more people to be employed, get more income, which will be further reflected on the well-being of our rural population. ”Levan Davitashvili said.
