"We are actively supporting local residents in the villages adjacent to the occupation line in harvesting grain crops " stated Levan Davitashvili
The grain harvesting process is becoming more intense in the villages adjacent to the occupation line of Shida Kartli region. The Agricultural Logistics and Services Company LLC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is providing the locals with the assistance to harvest the grain crops.The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili together with the State Representative of Shida Kartli region, Giorgi Khojevanishvili got acquainted with the harvesting process in the village Nikozi.
It should be noted, that harvesting of grain crops has come to an end in Kakheti region, currently, intensive works are underway in Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.
The harvest related activities are underway near the occupation line, also in the village Zemo Nikozi. The grain crops are already harvested on more than 12 thousand hectares of area, whereby, farmers used the equipment of the Agricultural Logistics and Services Company of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. This year, due to climatic conditions, we do not have an excess harvest. All relevant services are organized to ensure, that farmers will not face any problems, nor delays in relation to storing their crops "- said Levan Davitashvili.
63 units of combine harvesters are mobilized in Shida Kartli region, out of which 32 units belong to the Agricultural Logistics and Services Company LLC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. The equipment of the Private sector is also actively involved in the harvesting process.
It’s worth mentioning, that sown area of wheat includes 50 thousand hectares, while barley - 27 thousand hectares across the country.
