With the state support, the blackberry garden was planted on 12 hectares of land area in Kaspi Municipality " declared Levan Davitashvili

Within the frame of the state project "Plant the Future", the company ′′ ZZ Group′′ LLC has planted a berry orchard and took the first crop in Kaspi Municipality.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili together with the State Representative of Shida Kartli region, Giorgi Khojevanishvili got information about blackberry harvesting process.

‘’Another successful farm was created within the frame of our project "Plant the Future". This is the largest blackberry orchard across the country, which is planted on 12 hectares of land area. Moreover, growing of berries has become very popular and is actively developing in the country, although we are still at an early stage of development, thereby, the wide range of stakeholders need to be supported. The farmers need to have an access to new technologies, they need consultations from agronomists. This year, International consultants would provide a support in the field of specific crops, including berry, if there wasn’t Covid-19 pandemic. From 2021, we will definitely implement these programs " Levan Davitashvili said.

Levan Davitashvili declared, that the Ministry is actively working to ensure the proper arrangement of the storage infrastructure for storing of berry crops.

"The crop should be stored in the appropriate refrigeration infrastructure, which will be equipped with the cooling system and environmentally friendly cold storage facility. To this end, we provided the co-financing component for cooperatives. From 2021, this component will be launched for individual farms”said Levan Davitashvili.

The company ′′ ZZ Group ′′ LLC received 98, 587 GEL state funding for planting of berry orchard and arranging the irrigation system,  including allocation of GEL 71,099 for purchasing seedlings and GEL 27,488 for a drip system. Twenty locals are employed in the garden.
