The log sort yard was arranged in the village Kvemo Lisi

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the foresters in the newly arranged log sort yard " in the village of Kvemo Lisi.

"After the adoption of the new Forest Code, the forest reform has been actively implemented in the country, under which, the log sort yards will be organized in all municipalities of Georgia and population will be provided with timber resources. We aim to replace the practice of cutting the trees for personal benefits or social purposes with the comfortable services of the National Forestry Agency in order to make both firewood and other timber resources easily accessible to the population. Subsequently, the infrastructure created during the last two years will play an important role in this respect "- said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

As noted by the Minister, the technical park of the National Forest Agency has been developed and enhanced. Currently, the agency has several dozen of special equipment in its ownership. Further modernization of the agency and equipping it with the modern equipment is especially important for effective implementation of all forestry related activities.

The arrangement of the log sort yard is underway in almost all regions of Georgia.The log sort yards have already been established in Sagarejo, Gurjaani and Telavi municipalities, whereby the agency will carry out activities, regarding timber production, as well as sorting, warehousing and storing of timber resources in an organized manner. Twenty-six log sort yards will be arranged across the country by the end of the year. As a result, the forest use for timber production will be much more efficient, illegal logging and negative impacts on the forest will be reduced in the country.
