Farmers are expecting a plentiful corn yield

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili along with the representatives of local self-government inspected the corn fields in Abasha Municipality, Anjeli array.

 

Giorgi Khanishvili noted, that, consistent and complex measures are taken by the Government of Georgia against the invasive pests, due to which, farmers received a high quality crop this year , which will be further reflected in their incomes.

Under the frame of the state program, the National Food Agency is implementing measures to combat the Asian Stink bug. The cold spraying technology is applied for proccessing of corn fields, the farmers are taking into account drugs recommended by world experts for treatment of corn fields.

The treatment is carried out in compliance with the safety rules and procedures. "Attract and Kill " stations are being installed on the perimeters of the forest. Currently, up to 25,000 hectares have been processed with cold spraying and 7,000 "Attract and Kill" trap stations are installed in Samegrelo region.

" Successful experience of Georgia in the fight against the invasive pests is an example for many top leading countries around the world. Measures taken by the state against the Asian Stink Bugs have also contributed to the eradication of other diseases. Farmers are very grateful, that 20-30 percent more corn was sown in Abasha this year compared to last year”said Giorgi Khanishvili.
