The Head of the National Forestry Agency, Tornike Gvazava visited Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, where he met with the Dusheti municipality Mayor Zurab Sekhniashvili. Up to 30 households were provided with 100 cubic meters of firewood in the village Bakakari.
The National Forestry Agency actively works to improve the use of timber resources. Over 1 000 public schools were provided with 28,000 cubic meters of firewood across the country last year. This year other budget organizations will be also supplied with firewood which will gradually facilitate the introduction of sustainable forest management in the country.
Apart from firewood supplies, through introduction to renewable energies and promotion of energy efficiency, the agency aims to reduce pressure on natural forests.
