Minister Davitashvili: “the Government of Georgia-adopted decision will complement to an effort of apple crop housing within the AgroCredit’s capital component”

“Storage of our harvest is in full swing as the Ministry enters an active phase. Storage of seasonal harvest has already commenced and we are just about to launch an intensive harvest in Kakheti. Moreover, 3, 200 tonnes of grapes have already been processed, while the vast majority of these falls on Dedoplistskaro municipality. We are highly dependent on weather, which can empower us to intensify our efforts. In fact, the early vine for champagne has already been processed. We are about to launch Saperavi vintage during the next few days.
Today, the Government-adopted decision on capital component of the AgroCredit will empower storage efforts and entail an additional financial stimulate for companies that produce a concentrated apple juice for an export purpose. The rationale beyond subsidizing is to guarantee that within a bumper crop of apples – farmers attain an acceptable price on apples and companies have an increased purchasing capacity. For the sake of being entitled to co-financing capacity, by November 21, companies will be eligible to credits, which will increase demand from private sector; also, it will empower us to successfully store bumper crop of 2020 and refrain from any obstacles for the farmers.

The “Tkhiloba 2020” took place on September 6 in Samegrelo region, city of Zugdidi, that will cultivate a new tradition and celebration. Last year, we met with our fellow Ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey. In fact, Turkey has a long-standing tradition of celebrating hazelnut harvest, thus a decision has been made to establish celebratory events in Azerbaijan and Georgia. It is of utmost importance that farmers have had a successful harvest in 2020, both, in terms of quantity and quality. We will soon commence hazelnut harvest in the Western Georgia. This year has been such a promising year with esteemed projections on hazelnut export. The largest portion of hazelnut harvest has already been stored” – Mr Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia stated.
