Deputy Minister Iuri Nozadze attended Kvirila River water improvement project presentation

Mr Iuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, together with Mr Zviad Shalamberidze - State Representative in Imereti Region, and Mr Sulkhan Makhatadze - attended the presentation of the Kvirila River water quality improvement project in Chiatura.

"Implementation of such projects in the field of environmental protection is especially vital. We are delighted that the company "Georgian Manganese" will implement a large-scale project within the framework of environmental policy, which provides used water filtration. That will significantly improve the water quality of the river Kvirila. We hope that the company will actively continue the project to minimize environmental pollution, "- said the Deputy Minister of Environmental protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Iuri Nozadze.

Within the framework of environmental policy, „Georgian Manganese“ implements a pilot project to improve the water quality of the Kvirila river on the territory of the 29th factory in Chiatura.

Following deployment of modern technologies, the production process of "Georgian Manganese" will no longer have any contact with the environment - the water used in production will no longer flow into the river Kvirila, water and sludge will be separated locally. It should be noted that such a project was implemented for the first time in Georgia.

According to Mr Nikoloz Chikovani, the special manager of ``Georgian Manganese``Company, the company is working with foreign specialists to implement a similar project within processing units and factories within the three-year plan, which will ultimately protect the Kvirila River from pollution.

According to the State Representative in Imereti, Mr Zviad Shalamberidze, the implementation of this project will solve the problem that has existed for several decades. As a result of joint work of the state and the private sector, the Kvirila River will no longer be polluted, water quality and its ecosystem in general will be significantly improved.
