Deputy Minister Nino Tandilashvili held a meeting on improving air quality in the city of Rustavi

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (MEPA), Ms Nino Tandilashvili held an online meeting to discuss the draft of the action plan for improving air quality in the city of Rustavi.

 

"Improving air quality is a priority for the Government. I'm glad that involvement and coordinated actions of the Ministry and stakeholders facilitated creation of an action plan to improve air quality in Rustavi and ensure public discussions on the subject. I want to express my gratitude to all the stakeholders involved. Georgia's Government will approve the action plan shortly, and via close cooperation, in two years, we will harvest significant results." - stated Deputy Minister Tandilashvili.

 

The draft of the action plan for improving air quality in Rustavi is a complex document that focuses on regulating local industrial enterprises, promoting environmental initiatives (rehabilitation of the transport systems, development of bicycle networks, and urban green spaces), and increasing public awareness.

 

The heads of the Ministry MEPA’s respective departments, representatives of Rustavi municipality, and the civil sector attended the meeting.
