Levan Davitashvili familiarized himself with the grape harvesting in Kakheti

The Minister of Environmental protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili, visited the wine companies, "Old Wine Cellar of Tsinandali "and "Shumi Winery "in Kakheti. He familiarized himself with the ongoing grape harvest process and related activities, including the storage of grapes.

The Minister also met with the grape growers and discussed issues related to the delivery of grape harvest.
„Grape harvest season has reached its peak, and queues are a concomitant part of this process. The next ten days will be the most active. More than 10,000 tons of grapes are expected daily, which will require large production capacities. This year, about one hundred companies are engaged in the grape-harvesting process. Nevertheless, due to technical procedures, the trucks with the crops will have to wait several hours before delivering their grapes. We remember that several years ago, grape growers had to wait in line for three or more days, without knowing if they would be able to deliver their crops or not.

As I was informed by the grape-vintage coordination center that there had been no delays of more than 12 hours during grape deliveries. Therefore, we hope the grape delivery process will go smoothly this year, even though there's an attempt being made by some forces to strain and politicize the process. They are trying to play on the emotions of the grape growers, which I think is irresponsible. The grape harvest season should end without interruptions. Every single grape grower will have an opportunity to deliver their crops. "-declared Levan Davitashvili.
Despite the abundant harvest and the damage caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, storing grape harvest is going smoothly, and the grape growers are allowed to deliver the crops.
By the data of September 19, about 94,000 tons of grapes are processed in  Kakheti: 68,000 tons of Rkatsiteli, 18 tons of Sapheravi,  1,700 tons of Kakhuri Mtsvane, the rest are different species of grapes.
