Minister Davitashvili joins vintage at vintner Pavliashvili’s in Pshaveli village

As vintage season reaches peak in Kakheti and purchase/processing of grapes is undisrupted, Minister Levan Davitashvili joined vintage at vintner Pavliashvili’s in Pshaveli village, Kakheti region. Mr Malkhaz Pavliashvili cultivates and produces several types of bioorganic wines and has already realized 3 tonnes of Rkatsiteli, while Saperavi vintage is underway.

“Harvest has always been a major celebration, especially in the Kakheti region, where vintners mainly generate their income through realizing grapes. The State has supported conduct of vintage upon fully rewarding vintners’ efforts. Pavliashvili family harvests and produces bioorganic grapes and wine, the latter being in an increasing demand and having promising potential” – Minister Davitashvili stated. Vintage at Pavliashvili’s was also attended by Mr Irakli Shiolashvili, Acting State Representative in the Kakheti region.

By September 22, Kakheti region has processed 130, 000 tonnes of grapes (95, 000 tonnes of Rkatsiteli, 26, 000 tonnes of Saperavi, 2, 000 tonnes of Kakhuri Mtsvane and other types of vines).

Amid economic turmoil of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government of Georgia has undertaken effective remedies for supporting the wine-making sector through subsidizing Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane vines. The State subsidies will be entitled to those companies, who purchase and process Kakhetian-grown vines: at least 1000 tonnes Rkatsiteli or Kakhuri Mtsvane at a minimal price of 0,8 GEL to a vintner, thus, the companies will be eligible to State subsidies of 0,3 GEL per each kg.
