The peach harvest season is ending. The export value is $ 21.3 million

This year was marked by high quality peach and nectarine harvest. With the production growth, quality increased as well.  

 

Over a period of May 1 to October 4 2020 – about 25.3 thousand tons of peaches and nectarine were exported, that valued $ 21.3 million.

Exports of peaches and nectarine during this period were 2 times higher than the volume of exports in the same period of 2019 and value of exports increased by $ 8.8 million.

 

Exports of peaches and nectarine produced this year were mainly exported to the following countries: Russia - 16 769 tons, Armenia - 7 510 tons, Azerbaijan - 567 tons. In addition to these countries, exports were made to Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Slovenia, Singapore and Qatar.

 

22 refrigeration farms operated at full capacity to accommodate and sell the crop smoothly.

 

In order to facilitate the export of peaches, the necessary documentation was prepared and issued on a one-stop-shop basis. Representatives of phytosanitary and customs services were involved in the process.

 

A working group was set up at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture that worked actively on information retrieval, systematization and on farmers and peach distributors linking directions.
