4,5 million USD of increase in exporting sheep to the Saudi Arabia

“The State Policy for Agricultural Development in Georgia has already been translated into positive and tangible outputs. Indicators for Georgia’s production export has increased, including live sheep. Farmers are satisfied. It is worth mentioning that as a comparison to the previous year, worth of exported live sheep has increased in 36 %, which is a result of increasing export price” – the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Giorgi Khanishvili stated, while observing the preparatory process of exporting live sheep at the Ninotsminda municipality. 

 

LTD “Agrokiziki” specializes in shipment of live sheep for an export. A special quarantine space has been set up nearby the Madatapi lake, Ninotsminda municipality, which ensures comprehensive observation and examination on the sheep. Upon commencement of quarantine period – the live sheep will be exported to the Saudi Arabia. 
Mr Beka Gonashvili, representative of the LTD “Agrokiziki” stated that, recently, number of shipment orders has increased. 

 

The Arab world is the main beneficiary of live sheep export from Georgia. As of 2020, the key countries to export are Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia. In the course of the first 9 months of the year 2020, worth of live sheep export to the Saudi Arabia has increased 6 times, amounting into 4,5 million USD.
