Successful development of the plan to significantly improve air quality in Rustavi by 2021

“We had a meeting with the dwellers of Rustavi, as well as representatives from public movement. We elaborated on ensuring a complexed plan for improving atmospheric air quality in Rustavi. In fact, Tbilisi has the same type of a plan, which entails 40 topics along with wide-range of areas, which has been into force since 2017. For the first time in the history of an independent Georgia, in 2019, we have undertaken inspection over each and every enterprise in Rustavi for the purpose of comprehensive monitoring of air quality. 

A highly competent working group, with an engagement of the European experts, has identified key areas, which comes as a result of European expertise and practices that will significantly improve air quality of Rustavi by 2021. 

The plan entails detailed description of infrastructural works, as well as legislative amendments – empowering the State to effectively manage emissions from industrial enterprises into air“ - Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Davitashvili stated.Â
