Today has marked adoption of an action plan for improving atmospheric air quality of Rustavi by the Government of Georgia

The main pollutants are little particles PM10 and PM2.5, that we refer to as dust; their presence at certain industrial neighborhoods often exceed the norms set forth. Transborder pollutants in the city of Rustavi, as well as whole Georgia are also frequent. These, combined with industrial pollution worsens living conditions.
For the last one year, we have undertaken complexed efforts. In February, we established a working group, which enjoyed participation from activists of the “Gavigude” (EN: I can’t breathe) movement. We have joined forces with Rustavi’s dwellers, business sector and the municipality itself to elaborate an action plan; as an outcome, 63 million of investment will be undertaken by the State during the period of 2021-2022 to ensure green infrastructure in the city, which shall entail eco routes, space for walking, improvements to existing parks, greenery, bike routes and many other priorities, which will be at core and complex aspects of the action plan, aspiring to improve infrastructure”.
