53, 8 million USD worth of hazelnut has already been exported from Georgia

Georgia continues successful efforts for exporting hazelnut, which has already amounted into 53,8 million USD (10, 179 tonnes) during the period of August 1 – November 15. The export of the same period of 2019 has increased in 2, 853 tonnes (39 %), amounting an increase of 17, 9 million USD (50 %).   

 

The vast majority of Georgian hazelnut export has reached European Union market, mainly Germany (2, 977  tonnes), Italy (1, 966 tonnes), Czech Republic (550 tonnes), Poland (320 tonnes), Spain (308 tonnes), Lithuania (289 tonnes), Bulgaria (279 tonnes), France (218 tonnes) and Greece (97 tonnes), Estonia (88 tonnes), Latvia (62 tonnes), Luxembourg (60 tonnes), Slovakia (64 tonnes), Austria (22 tonnes) and Croatia (10 tonnes).  
Nevertheless, Georgian hazelnut has been exported to countries such as the Russian Federation (496 tonnes), Armenia (497 tonnes), Belarus (240 tonnes), Turkey (530 tonnes), Ukraine (176 tonnes), Algeria (173 tonnes), Brazil (186 tonnes), Canada (114 tonnes), Saudi Arabia (74 tonnes), Mexico (67 tonnes), Jordan (38 tonnes), Syria (50 tonnes), Switzerland (47 tonnes), Iraq (24 tonnes), Great Britain (22 tonnes), United Stated (19 tonnes) and etc.

 

Large-scale efforts and the State-deployed strategy, services and farmers have resulted into tangible outcome of fighting stink bug and celebration of high-quality harvest of 2020. Spread of the sting bug and fungal diseases had gradually dropped hazelnut production and export, which reached minimal scale of 17 tonnes in 2018.
