“Tangerine Harvest” Kicks Off

Georgia starts harvesting and storing tangerines with a projected 40 tonnes. 2020 harvest of tangerines has a demonstrated increase in quality, amid average amount. Furnishing harvesting and accommodation efforts has been complemented through enacting a special task force.

 

Nearly 30 enterprises will accept standard tangerines, which will go through storage, processing, oversight and registry within an electronic system. Non-standard tangerines will be accepted by the citrus sorting-packing and container manufacturing enterprise in Kobuleti. 

 

653 tonnes of tangerines have already been exported, amounting to 295, 000 USD. As a comparison to the same period of time last year, 2019, export has boosted up in 138 %, resulting into an increase of 149, 000 USD.
Primary directions of export for 2020 have been Armenia (411 tonnes) and the Russian Federation (185 tonnes). Georgian tangerines have been supplied to Ukrainian, Moldovan and Kazakhstani markets.
