The Bern Convention holds its landmark 40th Standing Committee online and enlists 4 sites of Georgia to become Emerald Network candidate sites

The Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitat held its landmark 40th Standing Committee and elected Mr Karlo Amirgulashvili, Head of the Forest Protection and Biodiversity Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA) as the Bureau member of the Convention, for the second consecutive term.

Georgia’s emerald network spans over 65 territories and its space is 1, 296 116 hectares.

Envrionmental protection regards the Bern Convention as one of the most crucial conventions of all. Upon cultivating the Convention and ensuring fulfillment of EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA) obligations – Georgia has created an emerald network in Georgia and complements its enhancement efforts.
