Minister Davitashvili: “Consistent policies cultivate boosting economy”

“Throughout history of the Georgian Independence, the country has reached a milestone in agricultural, forestry and fish industries, amounting to a nearly 5, 8 billion of projected estimates.

While the Ministry shall merge indicators of the two latest quarters, projections set forth an increasing indicators starting from 2010. Boosting dynamic in agriculture complements historic milestone, which has derived from the Ministry-deployed consistent strategy.

Eradication of poverty has not been fulfilled at 100% and well-being of our compatriots doesn’t stance at 100%, however, our progress is immense and is featured in numbers. The Ministry-deployed consistent strategy will translate into success of self-sufficiency and well-being of each and every citizen in a few-years-time.

Agro-product industry stands at a historical milestone and projections in 2020 have amounted to 12 billion GEL; while 5, 4 billion entails primary production and 6 billion has been accrued through processing.

Frankly speaking, an additional income in an agriculture industry had been decreasing from 2000 to 2012, however, the Ministry-deployed effective investments have boosted a constant growth spanning from 2017 to 2020, which is yet another portrayal of an implicit policy.

Micro indicators of trade entail immense and visible outcomes. We often hear a question on how self-sufficient agriculture of Georgia is and whether we fully import goods. By 2012, Georgia’s agro-product trade deficit stood up to 800 million; nowadays, the latter indicators are at a historical minimum and amounts to 251 million. We aspire to eradicate the deficit in 4-years-time, resulting into positioning Georgia as a truly self-sufficient country with a demonstrated increase in export compared to import, translating into attracting additional currency incomes to our economy”.
