Minister Davitashvili: "Bidzina Ivanishvili has provided the state with an unprecedented support, amidst absence of budgetary funds. He donated approximately 300 million GEL as an individual investment"

"Since 2012, Georgia has embarked on a significantly different approach toward agricultural matters. Frankly speaking, it has been a major decision to announce agriculture as a priority agenda for the country, which came as a pre-election campaign message of Mr Bidzina Ivanishvili. Translating campaign message into a tangible reality became a possibility during the same year of 2012. As an instant action, Mr Ivanishvili provided the state with an unprecedented aid, amidst absence of the budgetary funds; he donated approximately 300 million GEL as an individual investment.

Back in 2012, as an aftermath of an intensive hail in the Kakheti region, key agricultural fields had been destroyed. However, dwellers of the region became eligible to a compensation, which complemented farmers to proceed with the production process. These farmers cultivated lands, which had not been processed before. The compensation scheme supported small-holders. Stimulation efforts encouraged citizens who had lost their hope to seek an encouragement for returning to agriculture. Many people embarked on a journey to agriculture and their en devour proved to be the first success harvested" - Minister Davitashvili stated.Â
