Minister Davitashvili: "Lending scheme into the agriculture has been one of the foremost and fulfilled promises of Mr Bidzina Ivanishvili; up to this very moment, Georgia embraces the "preferential agro-credit" project, which entails deployment of funding via minimal or free interest rate toward any agricultural areas"

"Lending scheme of preferential resources has been translated into doubling vineyards in Georgia, spanning across 55, 000 hectares. The latter demonstrates a positive trend, as Georgia posses outstanding capacity to enhance viticulture, as one of the core and successful denominations of agriculture, with a perspective to thrive and expand.

Wide-range of orchard crops has been planted at a field exceeding 10, 000 hectares, advanced gardens of perennial crops, which have resulted from a grant scheme. Greenhouses have been set up spanning across several thousand of hectares, which are of utmost importance for product supply, as an effort to complement non-seasonal vegetables imported.

We have ensured instant-response to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020; we deployed financial rotational means as a short-term intervention to provide these to the farmers at almost no cost. Assistance schemes have empowered farmers to promptly adapt to an environment and boost harvest of annual crops.

We have had direct aids through depositing points to agro-cards, which empowered farmers to receive pesticides free of charge, as well as enjoy improved insurance terms and other goods. The latter have served as an instant-response action, which have been complemented by new projects in 2020 - aiming at responding to each and every aspect within the value chain: grant to primary production, co-financing of storage and processing enterprises, co-financing technical assistance, agro-credit and agro-loans. These programs shall proceed in the future.

As an utmost importance, consistent actions have been implemented for positioning Georgia as a net export state and ensure that the country complements toward an increased agricultural welfare" - Minister Davitashvili stated.Â
