Minister Davitashvili: "Georgia has embraced contemporary vision toward agricultural development, which complies with the European policy"

"The Association Agreement, including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) has determined Georgia's innovative and European-style development agenda, which entails major efforts for enhancing agriculture. We have elaborated the primary strategy for agricultural development, which has been complemented by the rural development strategy that strives to foster rural economy. Nowadays, we are proud holders of the rural development strategy spanning across 2021-2027, that entails definition of key areas for pursuing development efforts. Frankly speaking, consistency of the latter strategy can be featured in outcomes.

By the year of 2012, agriculture slightly exceeded 3 billion, however, projections for 2020 aim at exceeding 6 billion. Agricultural welfare of the country, produced in Georgia has boosted in 50 %. Profit of agriculture has increased in 70 % per one employee. Upon boosting productivity of agriculture per employee entails a more technologically advanced agriculture in Georgia. Moreover, added value of the agriculture has boosted in about 1 billion GEL throughout the last eight years.

Georgia imports a production worth of 1 billion, while, before, it basically did not export anything; in fact, a negative balance comprised 750 million USD, which has reached a historical minimum by today and stands at 250 million USD. Georgia has made an improvement in trade relations amounting into 500 million USD.

There are no decisions, which can result into a-one-year or short-term improvement to an agricultural field. Consistency is of utmost importance for an agricultural field and despite of speculations, judgment and criticism - we did not deviate from a consistent policy strategies. There are many efforts to deploy in the future, however, tangible results can be already embraced" - Minister Davitashvili stated.Â
