Affordable prices on agro-diesel for farmers in 2021
Georgia will proceed with supporting agro-diesel program throughout the year of 2021, which will empower farmers to enjoy affordable and low prices on diesel. The program has become possible through the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA) and the Socar Georgia Petroleum. Beneficiaries can sign up for the program as of February 1 and activate discount cards gradually, starting from February 7.The memorandum was signed by Mr Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Levan Giorgadze, Director of the Socar Georgia Petroleum, Mr Mahir Mammadov, General Director of SOCAR Energy Georgia, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev.
“We have implemented an exceptionally successful agro-diesel program through joining forces with the Socar Georgia Petroleum in 2020. 125 thousand farmers have already become beneficiaries of the program, who have enjoyed more than 7 million GEL as a total saving. We will proceed with our cooperation with Socar, enabling farmers to purchase diesel at a preferential price. We have launched an online platform, without paperwork obstacles for farmers who had to provide printed documents at petrol stations; now, they will utilize an online application” – Minister Davitashvili stated.
Mr Levan Giorgadze, Director of the Socar Georgia Petroleum reiterated that the program is successfully and jointly implemented together with the State, thus, empowering farmers to enjoy a preferential price on diesel. These farmers have been empowered to save funds upon conducting agricultural-rural activities.
“The pandemic has unleashed various economic turmoil. We regard 2021 not to be an easy year either. Last year, in frames of the memorandum – we have been able to supply farmers with a preferential price on diesel. We have signed the memorandum this year as well, to continue supplying agricultural industry and transform the year into a more successful one” - Mr Mahir Mammadov, General Director of SOCAR Energy Georgia stated.
Affordable prices on agro-diesel have been designated for those legal/physical persons, who hold an agricultural-rural land and own at least 0,25 hectares of agricultural-rural land registered at the National Agency of Public Registry. The latter land shall be other than the one used for cattle farming. Also, these legal/physical persons shall ensure primary registration and clarification of the agricultural-rural land.
For the farmers within the program, there are discount cards on diesel on 150 liters determined per 1 hectare, however not more than 15 000 liters per 100 hectares. Farmers will be enabled to purchase diesel from retail units of the Socar Georgia Petroleum within a consolidated bid and with a discount of 20 Tetri at a fixed price (discount of 16 Tetri at a petrol station).
Petrol cards will be issued remotely via the web-page: https://my.mepa.gov.ge. Farmers can also receive the cards at regional agencies of the Rural Development Agency.
