79, 2 million USD worth of hazelnut exported from Georgia by January 31

Georgia continues successful efforts for exporting hazelnut, which has already amounted into 79, 2 million USD (15, 3 K tonnes) during the period of August 1, 2020 – January 31, 2021. The export of the same period of 2019/2020 has boosted in 5, 0 tonnes (49 %), amounting an increase of 26, 8 million USD (51 %).

The vast majority of Georgian hazelnut export has reached European Union market, mainly Germany (4, 165 tonnes), Italy (3, 766 tonnes), Czech Republic (716 tonnes), Lithuania (442 tonnes),  Spain (430 tonnes), Poland (376 tonnes),   Bulgaria (345 tonnes), France (359 tonnes), Latvia (128 tonnes), Greece (97 tonnes), Estonia (88 tonnes),  Slovakia (86 tonnes),  Luxembourg (84 tonnes), Belgium (44 tonnes), Austria (22 tonnes) and Croatia (10 tonnes).

Nevertheless, Georgian hazelnut has been exported to countries such as Armenia (873 tonnes),  the Russian Federation (713 tonnes), Turkey (530 tonnes),  Belarus (444 tonnes), Ukraine (290 tonnes), Brazil (186 tonnes),  Algeria (185 tonnes), Canada (146 tonnes), Saudi Arabia (166 tonnes), Switzerland (89 tonnes), Mexico (67 tonnes),  Uzbekistan (58 tonnes), Syria (50 tonnes), United Arab Emirates (44 tonnes), Jordan (38 tonnes), Great Britain (35 tonnes), Iraq (24 tonnes), United Stated (19 tonnes) and etc.

Large-scale efforts and the State-deployed strategy, services and dedication of farmers have resulted into tangible outcome of fighting stink bug and embracing high-quality harvest of 2020. Spread of the sting bug and fungal diseases had gradually dropped hazelnut production and export, which reached minimal scale of 17 tonnes in 2018.
