Deputy Minister Khanishvili hosts a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara

The first Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA), Mr Giorgi Khanishvili hosted a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara to scrutinize State-deployed programming, planned and incumbent, for enhancing agriculture. The meeting enjoyed presence of Mr Zurab Chekurashvili, Head of the National Food Agency, who embraced joined forces with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara for a coordinated action against marmorated stink bug. 

“Last year was a challenging time, however, we have joined forces for facing and tackling numerous drawbacks. 2021 will be an exceptionally successful year with a demonstrated increase of support to citrus, hazelnut and other agrarian industries. Meanwhile, farmers have intensified their efforts for boosting harvest” – Deputy Minister Khanishvili stated. 

Agricultural programming in Adjara was reviewed by Mr Giorgi Surmanidze, who dwelled on activities deployed for fighting stink bug resulting into drastic decrease, which has had a profoundly positive impact on volume and quality of harvest in the region – that has also been translated into an increased income for farmers.
