Elaboration of the 2021-2025 strategy and action plan for small and medium entrepreneurs’ empowerment

The first Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Giorgi Khanishvili attended an online session on elaboration of the 2021-2025 strategy and action plan (2021-2022) for small and medium entrepreneurs’ empowerment. 

“Effective assessment of the perspectives, needs and expectations of small and medium entrepreneurs within an agricultural spere is vital for the development of these. I am frank that the new strategy will complement an accelerated development of small and medium businesses, as well as various areas of agriculture; it will also identify new possibilities that can boost Georgia in becoming a Neto exporter country with regard to rural-agricultural goods” – Deputy Minister Khanishvili stated. 

2021-2025 strategy and action plan for small and medium entrepreneurs’ empowerment has been elaborated through assistance of the European Union, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). Currently, the working group is striving for perfection and amendment of the working plan. 

An online meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, as well as OECD and GIZ. 

The meeting enjoyed presence of a steering committee established for developing a new strategy of the 2021-2025 strategy for new and medium entrepreneurship, as well as representatives of international donor organizations and experts.
