Minister Davitashvili: “We will gradually cultivate separate collection of waste”

“Waste management is of utmost importance. Apart from highly important reforms and programs commenced in previous years, I will also regard 2020 as a significant year. Modern approaches to waste management anticipates establishment of extended producer responsibility in the country. In 2020, the Ministry embarked on a productive journey and adopted 5 rules of procedure with regard to waste management, which aims at separation of waste, recycling, processing and in general – fostering circular and green economies. This is a modern European approach. We will gradually move to separated collection of waste, which has also been set forth and empowered by an incumbent legislation and policies; it is of utmost importance to utilize waste in an effective manner, at various areas of economy. Less waste there is in an environment, less harm we cause to the nature” - Mr Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia stated.
