Minister Davitashvili: “Our continues progress toward perfecting agro-insurance program will soon ensure compliance with an international best practice”
“Agro-insurance program is among the systemic reform highlights. The program insures harvest from all main four natural occurrences. The Ministry has drafted development strategy, which will increase scale of the package. Frankly speaking, there are no best practices at any country, which can be tailored to the other. We have been undertaking detailed studies over the years, which has gradually transformed the program and succeeded to approaching the best international standards within the runner-up countries, such as Spain, Turkey and etc. Georgian model of agro-insurance is a successful one, however, it requires further elaboration and perfection. Private sector capacities shall be enhanced, new professionals shall be recruited and all of these has been entailed within the strategy. We will host presentation on private insurance companies, regulator and insurance associations” - Mr Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia stated.
